For ASM, the American Society of Microbiology, developed comprehensive specifications for the use of NLM 2.3 XML for ASM’s legacy content as well as recommendations and specifications for its migration to JATS XML for all aspects of its journal content. The engagement involved close collaboration with ASM’s prepress provider and the requirements of its journal hosting platform. The project also involved the development of a comprehensive set of Schematron tests for conformance to ASM’s model and business rules. Similar specification projects were done for PLOS and Emerald Publishing.
